The Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia (STAA) was established
in 1986 as the National peak body for Shiatsu therapists.
It has been responsible for the development of competencies
and standards for Shiatsu therapists and colleges.
STAA is dedicated to expanding the awareness and
recognition of Shiatsu in the Australian community and its
integration into the health care system.

Developing the Shiatsu Education Forum to foster a professional

Private health insurance. Eleven private health insurers
now provide insurance cover for Shiatsu and accept STAA full
members as providers
STAA has developed quality marketing brochures for therapists
to purchase. Marketing also includes articles and advertising
in appropriate publications.
Development of a Health training package for the Complimentary
and Alternative Health Care Industry, commissioned by Australian
National Training authority (ANTA)
