Kaiya Seaton

Ordinary Member (Education & Training)

Kaiya has been a shiatsu practitioner since 1991 and has run a clinic in Katoomba, NSW since that time.

'I wanted to add a bodywork therapy to my existing herbal medicine practice, saw an ad for a shiatsu course, and was immediately drawn to it.

'During the course I was introduced to the power of ki by Master Takao Nakazawa and it has resonated inside me ever since.'

Kaiya began teaching in her early 20s, starting as a high school teacher, progressing on to be a dance teacher, running natural therapy courses and then a TAFE teacher.

In 2009 she developed and implemented the Diploma of Shiatsu course for Blue Mountains TAFE, and has been on the AISC Industry Reference Committee for the Diploma of Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies.

'I want to ensure that the heart and essence of shiatsu continues to be reflected in the national training packages.

'I am also interested in developing packages for registered training organisations that allow shiatsu practitioners to upgrade their qualifications and help members stay current in our industry, whilst acknowledging the experience and skills of our practitioners.'
