Maintaining your registration with STAA
Insurance
Registered members are required to have current professional indemnity insurance cover with a minimum coverage of $1 million*.

Insurance providers can vary widely with their terms, conditions and pricing. Each Australian state also varies in terms of pricing. For this reason it is difficult for STAA to recommend a single provider for all members.

Insurance providers also change their terms annually. Your own insurance needs might also change from time to time. For this reason, we advise that, if you would like to get the best conditions for you and your practice, get in touch with a range of providers to obtain quotes from each year before your renewal date.
We cannot fully endorse any of the providers as everyone's circumstances are individual.
Some providers to consider:
First Aid
Requirements for Registered Members

Full members must have current senior first aid qualifications. This qualification is known as Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and includes the components Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (HLTAID002) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001).

First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years.
It is recommended that CPR is updated annually.
Finding a first aid training organisation

There are many first aid training organisations in Australia. Ensure that they are a registered training organisation (RTO). These organisations will have a RTO provider number and should display the Nationally Recognised Training logo.

CPE
Continuing Professional Education
Continuing professional education (CPE) is essential for professional health practitioners.
Through CPE we:
-maintain and upgrade our knowledge and skills
assure the public that STAA Shiatsu practitioners have ongoing quality standards

-keep Shiatsu therapy in line with other health modalities

Registered STAA members must complete 20 CPE points annually — one hour equals one point.
At least 10 points must be on core Shiatsu subjects. The other 10 points can be on non-core but related subjects.

If you complete more than 20 points in one year, a maximum of 10 points can be carried over to the next year.

It is compulsory to complete 20 points of CPE each year to retain status as a STAA Registered member.

You are required to complete and upload the Annual Record Sheet which lists your CPE activities for the previous year. You are also required to maintain your own evidentiary records for each of these activities.
