Since its inception in 2019, the STAA Mentoring Programme has undergone an extensive trial period. Throughout this time, mentors and mentees have consistently reported positive feedback regarding its effectiveness.

The programme undergoes continuous review and refinement to ensure it meets our members' evolving needs. STAA’s National Council is pleased to announce that we now formally recognise the programme as a comprehensive and professional development resource for our membership.

The programme provides unique support specifically designed to:

●  Align with the culture, values, and philosophies inherent in shiatsu training

●  Function as a mentee-directed process that reflects the values and practices of

client-centered care within a therapeutic context

●  Empower mentees to identify and address their specific needs as developing

practitioners

●  Naturally foster professional connections and career pathways

Industry best practice recognises mentoring as essential to practitioner wellbeing and competence across all professions and trades. Within the shiatsu context, mentoring has demonstrably increased both mentee and mentor competence and autonomy, while enhancing confidence in professional relationships.

The administration of the STAA Mentoring Programme requires significant volunteer hours from coordinators, mentors, and our Administration Officer. We recognise that it is now appropriate for the programme to transition from trial phase to full implementation, including a fair financial contribution from participating mentees.

Following research into comparable professional development programmes, we have established the following fee structure:

●  STAA Members: $900

●  Non-STAA Members: $1,500

(Payment Instalment options available with PaPal “pay in 4”)

We encourage members to consider this programme as fulfilling a full year's worth of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements. We look forward to continuing to support your professional development through this valuable programme.
